Something to think about

Proverbs 11:2

Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.

Titus 3: 5

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.

The Old Rugged Cross

I remember a few years back when there was a big debate about the cross being too violent to be preached and kept at the forefront of Christianity. I think in general today the church has let this philosophy creep in. We just don't sing about the cross like we used to or preach on it.

I Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

"Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sov’reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?
Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!"

"On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown."

One thing I request at my funeral is that The Old Rugged Cross be sung!

Regional tourney

Academic team traveled to Hilldale today. We came in 3rd and will advance to the Area tournament.

Seen on the back of a competitor's t-shirt:
"I will study and get ready and maybe my chance will come." Abraham Lincoln

Seen in a science classroom:
"During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

Invicible

Tonight I saw one of the most incredible movies I've seen in a long time. The movie was "Invincible".

"Dreams are not lived on the sidelines."
